AN ISLAMIC MANUSCRIPT LEATHER BINDING BUKHARA, 1276 AH (19TH CENTURY) This finely executed book cover was completed in the blessed city of Bukhara in the year 1276 AH for the reigning king. The inscription offers elaborate prayers for the ruler, invoking longevity, prosperity, and dominion measured in thousands of years, months, days, and hours—an expression of royal reverence and devotion. Signed by Mulla Sharif Kashgari, the binding reflects high craftsmanship, executed using traditional techniques of leather tooling, leather burning, and leather carving.
