This depiction, featuring an easel and etching tools, is one of a total of three etched self-portraits by the artist. The sheet bears a pen annotation similar to at least two copies in the Rijksprentenkabinet in Amsterdam: “Door Corn. van Noorde na 't Leeven geteekend en in 't koper gebragt. 1765.” A comparison with these allows for the identification of this second state, which, based on the handwriting, predates the reduction of the plate. Included is a contre-épreuve of the same state. An absolutely superb, beautifully graded print with a fine white border around the image, featuring the text margin and the date at the bottom.
