Desert Nude on Rock Outcrop, c. 1950s, original vintage black-and-white gelatin silver print. Dimensions approximately 13" x 10.6". This breath-taking outdoor masterwork captures a stunning nude female model perched atop a rugged rock formation, looking down in profile against a vast, sweeping California desert expanse bounded by distant mountains under a crisp sky. The composition perfectly exhibits de Dienes’ celebrated ability to harmonize the soft contours of the female form with the harsh, deep-focus textures of natural topography under the brilliant, high-contrast glare of the midday sun. André de Dienes (1913–1985) was a legendary Hungarian-born American photographer who achieved worldwide celebrity status for his iconic fashion work, pin-up layouts, and masterfully lit artistic figure studies. He is most famously celebrated as the photographer who first discovered and documented a young Marilyn Monroe (then Norma Jeane Baker), capturing some of her most definitive early portraits. Operating out of his renowned Sunset Plaza Drive studio in Hollywood, de Dienes pioneered a distinct, naturalistic approach to fine art and glamour photography, often utilizing rich shadows, outdoor environments, and innovative staging to celebrate the human form with joyful energy and technical precision. ANDRE DE DIENES Vintage Photo 1950s-1960s Nude Study. The provenance of this photo is from a deceased collector. The dimensions are Approx. 13" x 10.6" (variances can occur).
