Omega, Speedmaster Professional with a tropical dial, Ref. 145.022, No. 296060xx, circa 1969. A rare three-counter stainless steel chronograph with a fixed tachymeter bezel, featuring a beautiful and rare chocolate-patinated “step” dial with patinated “luminous” hands and hour markers. Functions: Hours, minutes, continuous seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour counters. Screw-down case back engraved with the seahorse; manual-winding mechanical Caliber 861 movement protected by its dust cover. Accessories: None. Condition: Very attractive, uniform overall patina on the dial and luminous material; minor surface scratches on the entire case, bezel, and case back; movement was functioning at the time of catalog compilation. Models whose originally black dials have evolved into this more or less pronounced brown hue are very rare. Our example has retained all its markings in the center of the dial, while the minute track around the edge has partially faded, giving it a decidedly vintage look that is highly appealing.
