Portraits (of Egyptians) by Vivant Denon 1807. This is plate 90 from the Voyage dans la Basse et la Haute-Egypte pendant les campagnes du General Bonaparte by Dominique Vivant Denon. Published by Samuel Bagster, London 1807. The first member of the French National Institute to visit Upper Egypt and report his discoveries was Denon. The remarkable plates which illustrate this work, described in detail in the accompanying text, are of great importance to Egyptology as they illustrate for the first time many new discoveries.
