Gérard de Palézieux 1919 Vevey – 2012 Veyras Still Life with Cherries Oil on canvas, mounted on hardboard Monogrammed lower right: P Framed 15.5 × 20.5 cm Still lifes occupy an important place in Gérard de Palézieux’s oeuvre. During his studies in Florence from 1939 to 1943, he became acquainted with the paintings of Giorgio Morandi, which had a lasting influence on him. After returning to Switzerland, he settled in Veyras in the Valais. His still lifes typically depict simple everyday objects, vessels, or fruits in understated compositions.
