Woman’s Head in the Style of Pablo Gargallo In the style of Pablo Gargallo (1881, Maella – 1934, Reus). Sheet iron, cut, curved, and rolled, with a speckled patina. Stylized female head with a disc-shaped hat brim; eyes and forehead curls rendered as coiled spirals; strands of hair sweeping out to the sides. Mounted on the back onto a square rod, which is screwed onto a rectangular iron base. Unsigned. A printed exhibition invitation, fragmentarily preserved and glued to the underside, featuring an illustration of a woman’s head, inscribed: PABLO GARGALLO, GALERIE SIMON, 29 to … ASTORG, OPENING RECEPTION … 1933. Invitation is stained, torn, and partially detached. Base shows traces of rust, as well as signs of age and wear.
