Boulle Game Table - Tortoiseshell and Brass Marquetry - French School. 19th Century Ebonized wood with brass and tortoiseshell inlays in the Boulle style, featuring gilt bronze accents. Dimensions: 76 cm x 86 cm x 43 cm when closed and 75 cm x 90 cm x 90 cm when open. The curvilinear structure, featuring cabriole legs and a cropped skirt, is lavishly adorned with Baroque marquetry that incorporates plant motifs and female masks, typical of the Louis XV style. The top opens to reveal an interior upholstered in green cloth, designed for play, highlighting its dual nature as both functional and luxurious. The craftsmanship reflects the influence of André-Charles Boulle, a master of French cabinetmaking, whose legacy endured in the haute décoration of the 19th century.
