Cavaliere d'Arpin (in the style of)—Italian Renaissance school of the 16th–17th centuries Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 60 cm x 50 cm. The scene, centered on the figure of Christ bound and tortured by three henchmen, unfolds in a dark architectural space. The muscular bodies of the executioners contrast with Christ’s pale anatomy, accentuating his suffering through strong chiaroscuro. The physical tension, the expressiveness of the faces, and the anatomical rendering reveal the influence of the late Spanish Baroque. The work belongs to the devotional repertoire centered on the Passion, intended to evoke an emotional and spiritual response. Its austere and dramatic style aligns with the Counter-Reformation principles of the 18th century. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist.
