Kadir, who trained under the influence of the Danish artist van Russel (1898–1975) and was active in Bogor (West Java) during the first half of the 20th century. The painting depicts a serene view of an Indonesian village, rendered with the loose, luminous brushstrokes characteristic of the tropical Impressionist style. The title “Bungur Tjianjur,” the work number “432,” and the artist’s signature and address appear on the reverse.
