1238 - 19th-Century French School - The Milkmaid

19th-Century French School - The Milkmaid Pastel on paper. Dimensions: 64 × 51 cm. A genre drawing depicting a young milkmaid, a recurring theme in 17th- and 18th-century European painting, linked to scenes of everyday life and often imbued with subtle symbolic connotations. The work belongs to the Rococo style, featuring a delicate rendering of the face and special attention to expression and the softness of the modeling. The pronounced neckline adds a touch of restrained sensuality, characteristic of this type of depiction. The composition recalls models popularized by artists such as Jean-Baptiste Greuze, whose iconography greatly influenced this genre. Lot stored in an international warehouse (within the EU).
