Saint Jerome Listening to the Trumpets of the Last Judgment. Spanish School. 16th century. Oil on canvas. Measures 111 x 78 cm (125 x 91 cm with frame). It depicts Saint Jerome in the desert, semi-nude and penitent, with a skull and a cross as symbols of redemption. Above, an angel plays the trumpet of the Last Judgment. The brushwork is precise and the light contrasts are intense, characteristic of early Spanish Mannerism. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions.
