RIXES Avant-garde surrealist and abstract art journal, featuring illustrations (reproductions of works by A. Jorn, Trokes, etc.) and texts (by Dotremont, Butor, etc.); two inserts in Issue No. 1, including one by Roberto Matta, and announcements in Issue No. 2 of exhibitions organized by the magazine in Lille, Brussels, and Berlin, 1950 and 1951. Two original issues (the only ones ever published), Issue No. 1 (40 pp. + lithographic cover by Christine Boumeester), complete with both inserts, and Issue No. 2 (8 pp. that unfold with illustrations mounted as vignettes + cover, a stencil by E. Zanartu). Approximately 27 x 21 cm each. A cover detached from the stapled pages. Note: A testament to the avant-garde’s experiments, this lot preserves the evocative power of the printed media that helped spread the ideas and images of their era. A prime piece to enrich a collection dedicated to 20th-century arts and documents.
