William was an engineer and Executive of Government Railways in British India between 1919 and 1948, where he was responsible for railway and bridge construction, linking coal fields in Bihar and Orissa. A rich archive documenting the life of a British railway official in India towards the end of the British rule in India. With images and documents relating to life in the Kashmir and Punjab regions from the 1920s until the 1940s.
