A luxurious edition with notes by Claude Brossette, expanded by Dumonteil, sumptuously illustrated with 9 half-titles: 1 superb allegorical frontispiece including the author’s portrait in a medallion, 1 fold-out portrait of the Princess of Wales, 1 frontispiece and 6 plates for “Le lutrin”; in the text: 1 title vignette featuring a portrait of Erasmus (repeated in Vol. II), 27 tailpieces (several repeated) and 2 initials; for a total of approximately 40 copper engravings (including repetitions) by B.
