A2, light soiling, foxing, some spotting and (water) stains throughout, a few leaves browned). Contemporary red morocco, boards richly decorated with a gilt-stamped “dentelle à l’éventail” pattern and a central mosaic and gilt coat of arms, gilt-ornamented flat spine, gilt fillet on board edges, as above (rubbed with some minimal loss of gilt, marginal wormtracks at the top of the upper board and lower joint, slight damage to the endcaps, corners slightly bumped, upper head corner slightly crumpled). Rare copy bound with the papal arms of Urban VIII. Ill.: title printed in black and red within an engraved frame depicting the Last Supper, with a large engraved episcopal armorial vignette, 3 frames, 2 full-page illustrations, and 1 headpiece; woodcut initials and tailpieces. Text printed in black and red within a double-fillet frame. Provenance: Pope Urban VIII (Maffeo Barberini, 1568–1644), elected in 1623 (supralibros). — Collegio Romano (handwritten entry on endpaper).
