This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by search certificate no.13412-259781. The ring belongs to the category of Eastern Roman rings with an applied bezel, a type particularly common between the 6th and 8th centuries AD. Similar to a ring held at the Benaki Museum in Athens, this ring bears the monogram ?????? (of Iohannes), likely belonging to the Consul of the same name a high-ranking Imperial official active during the 6th and 7th centuries. TimeLine Auctions follows a rigorous vetting process to ensure the authenticity and legality of all items, reinforcing our commitment to integrity and responsible trading. Each antiquity, antique, and coin lot undergoes thorough examination by a vetting committee of at least ten external specialists, professional trade association members, scientists, and archaeologists.
