Houbraken" 48 x 37 cm (Previous restorations) In a gilded wooden frame Bears an old label on the reverse reading “Jesus and the Samaritan Woman by Arnold Houbraken.” Arnold Houbraken was born in Dordrecht (Holland) in 1660 and died in 1719. A student of van Drillenburg, J. La Vecq, and Hoogstraten, he settled in Amsterdam and spent nearly a year in London. His work is characterized by meticulous craftsmanship. He was well-versed in antiquities and wrote a three-volume biography of Flemish and Dutch painters in 8vo format."
