1840 - Magnificent Historicist coffee/tea set by Schleissner & Söhne, Hanau, late 19th century/circa 1900, 800 silver/ivory, approx. 3,130 g (total), 4-piece set. Consisting of: coffee pot, teapot, milk jug, and sugar bowl; each with a rounded, flared base featuring a flared leaf wreath; ovoid or bulbous bodies, the sides of each adorned all around with a relief ornamental frieze; the spouts of the coffee and tea pots feature fully sculpted seated female figures in the style of classical antiquity, each holding a jug as a spout in her arms; the handles of the pots and the milk jug are made of ivory with volute-shaped ends, topped by fully sculpted lion heads; the lids of the pots and the canister each feature a figurative crown in the form of a kneeling cupid holding a seashell in the hand of her outstretched arm, each hallmarked: a crescent moon and crown, fineness mark, and maker’s mark; height: up to approx. 33.5 cm (coffee pot in its entirety). Signs of age, occasional dents, base partly slightly uneven, ivory partly cracked, coffee pot bent. Included: CITES certificate, issued by the Tübingen Regional Council, October 19, 2026.
