Claude Lorrain - Coast scene with an artist drawing, by Richard Earlom Description: Coast scene with an artist drawing; artist sitting in foreground on shore, figures in rowing boats and ships beyond, trees at right; after Claude's drawing of 1653; Mezzotint etching dating 1776 from Liber Veritatis, a collection of drawings made by Claude Lorrain (1600-1682). Richard Earlom (1743-1822) made a set of prints after Claude's Liber Veritatis while it was in the collection of the Dukes of Devonshire at Chatsworth. The Earlom set was engraved between 1774 and 1777 and published by Boydell in two volumes in 1777, each containing 100 numbered prints. The set was immediately successful upon release Dimensions: 20,50 x 25,90 cm Condition: Very good impression on the thick laid paper as issued. Damp staining mainly in the margins, invisible behind the acid free passe-partout.
