Balthasar Moncornet (1600-1668) - A wide landscape with a small river Description: Probably unwritten. ----- However, the present rare print is explicitly inscribed with the address "Moncornet fecit". The catalogue of prints in Le Blanc lists 140 entries and contains religious subjects, numerous portrait engravings, and only a few landscapes. This very high-quality and masterfully executed landscape etching, which stylistically shows the influence of Haarlem landscape etchers such as Jan van de Velde, is missing. Here an impression with the publishers address of Pierre Mariette in the bottom left corner. Signed at right: Cornelio Inventor, Bal. Moncornet fecit. And numbered '2' Dimensions: c26,20 x 33,70 m Condition: Good tonal impression with wide margins on bunch of grapes watermarks laid paper. A few tiny brown spots, otherwise an excellent. example Literature: Probably undescribed Medium: Etching Date: 1620-1645
