Andrea Andreani - The Triump of Christ - C. 1590 Description: This is part of a wide frieze with the triumph of Christ vonsisting out of at least eight large woodcuts. The blocks were numbered from A to H. The first block was lettered 'Titian. inven. Andreas Andrianus fecit et dicavit D. Jacobi Ligotiae pic. Mag. Duc Etruriae. Romae'T. his is 'Section C: female martyrs and saints holding banners". This work was published by Callisto Ferranti circa 1626-1647. The woodblock is dated 1590-1600. The British Museum lists it as a work by Andrea Andreani. Andreani made this woodcut in reverse after the earlier 1517 version after Titian. Dimensions: 38,50 x 38,70 cm Condition: Good impression on laid paper. Some foxing mainly in the margins, otherwise fine.
