Art Deco table lamp. France, ca. 1930. Satin-finished glass with geometric decoration. The glass has slight surface marks. Measurements: 32 cm high x 24 cm in diameter. This table lamp is an attractive example of Art Deco lighting design, characterized by the geometrization of forms and experimentation with the decorative possibilities of glass. It features a distinctive mushroom-shaped silhouette, consisting of a wide, domed shade and a flared base, both adorned with a geometric grid of squares and rectangles. The hallmarks of the different glass surfaces create an evocative interplay of light and transparency, providing warm, diffused lighting. Its design reflects the aesthetic of French decorative arts from the interwar period, when glass manufacturers explored new techniques and finishes to create lamps with a distinctly sculptural presence.
