Attributed to PAOLO BUFFA (Milan, 1903–1970). Dressing table with circular mirror. Italy, 1950s. Walnut wood and brass legs. Handcrafted. In good condition. Restored finish. Shows signs of wear consistent with its age and use. Measurements: 68 x 138 x 38 cm. Dressing table console attributed to Paolo Buffa, handcrafted in walnut with brass legs and a circular mirror. The hallmarks of the wood and metal, along with the combination of straight and curved lines, capture the elegance of 1950s Italian furniture. Its dual function as a console table and vanity makes it well-suited for modern interiors, while the care taken with the materials and the artisanal craftsmanship reflect the designer’s signature style. Paolo Buffa trained in Milan under Gio Ponti and Emilio Lancia and, beginning in the 1930s, pursued an extensive career as an architect, interior designer, and furniture designer. His work is distinguished by the quality of its craftsmanship, the balance of its proportions, and the expressive use of curved profiles and cabinetry details. His pieces are part of institutional collections such as the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, which houses a bar cabinet designed by Buffa around 1950.
