Obverse: “REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE.” Head of the Republic facing left, depicted as Ceres, wearing a headband inscribed with “CONCORDE” and a composite wreath of wheat ears, oak leaves, laurel, and flowers tied at the nape of the neck; above, a six-pointed star with rays; beaded border. Signed: OUDINÉ. Reverse: “EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE / PARIS 1878,” in the exergue: “PALAIS DU TROCADERO / ADMIN.OF COINS / AND MEDALS / ALPHEE DUBOIS.” Perspective view of the Trocadéro Palace with its central rotunda, its two hemicycle-shaped wings, its monumental staircases, its waterfalls, and its gardens; below, a cartouche and the inscriptions in the exergue.
