FRANCE — City of Paris Industrial Design Prize, 1894, by Jean Lagrange (1831–1908). Obverse: A young nude man seated in profile facing right, drawing on a board in front of a draped bust in the classical style resting on a pedestal; at the base of the pedestal are a decorative palmette and a vase with a handle. Signed: J. LAGRANGE. Reverse: “VILLE DE PARIS / DESSIN INDUSTRIEL.” Within an inner beaded circle, a seven-line inscription: XXE ARROND.T / CLASSE D’ADULTES / MR POTIER / PROFESSEUR / PRIX À L’ÉLÈVE / G. LECLERC / 1894. Two small flowers separate the two entries in the circular inscription. Material: Bronze. Diameter: 40 mm.
