FRANCE — France’s Support for the Polish Uprising of 1830–1831, 1831, by Jean-Jacques Barre (1793–1855). Front: “YOU . WILL NOT . DIE / M · DCCC · XXXI.” France stands on the right, draped in ancient style and wearing a Phrygian cap, supporting Poland—depicted as a turreted figure standing on the left—who holds a sword and a staff topped with an eagle bearing a pennant inscribed with “POLAND.” Signed: BARRE FECIT. Reverse: “TO / HEROIC / POLAND.” Central inscription in three lines surmounted by a wreath of fourteen stars; at the bottom, a laurel branch and a palm frond crossed in saltire surmounting a heraldic lion passing to the left. Material: Bronze. Diameter: 50 mm.
