Millefleurs Fragment with Animals Aubusson tapestry, 19th century Woven in wool and silk H. 1.19 x W. 1.11 m This fragment features animals (birds, a deer, and a rabbit) set against a floral background, in the style of the Mille Fleurs motifs of the late 15th and early 16th centuries. The revival of these motifs in 19th-century French workshops reflects a return to medieval aesthetics in interior design. This charming fragment has retained some of its colors. It shows wear in the silk threads, as well as old restorations and damage. It has been reduced in both height and width. Expert: Alexandre CHEVALIER
