PJ Redoute - Ariel Press 1956. This print, originally drawn by Pierre-Joseph Redoute is from Roses 2, edited and selected by Eva Mannering. Published in London by Ariel Press, 1956. First Edition. Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759 – 1840) was a painter and botanist. He was also an official court artist of Queen Marie Antoinette in France. Redoute was nicknamed "the Raphael of flowers" and has been called the greatest botanical illustrator of all time. Printed on thick matt textured paper with an impressed platemark. Size: 11.8in x 16.5in (30cm x 42cm) Excellent condition - please review the image carefully
