Bibliographie Gastronomique, col. 896. Croce, the famous Italian folk poet from Bologna, born in 1550 and died in 1609, practiced the profession of street singer with verve and wit; at the end of the 16th century, he created the popular character of Bertholdo, a cunning peasant. A very fine copy, elegantly bound by Thouvenin, circa 1830. From the libraries of Ch. Nodier and Yemeniz (bookplate).
