Sven Engström and Gunnar Myrstrand Coffee table Stone and wood Seaborg Môbelindustri Date of creation: circa 1950 H53 W90 D75.5 cm Sven Engström and Gunnar Myrstrand were two postwar Swedish designers whose collaborations with Seaborg Möbelindustri produced some of the most original pieces of Scandinavian design from the 1950s. This coffee table, which combines the elegance of stone with the warmth of wood, illustrates their ability to blend contrasting materials into harmonious compositions. The use of stone in 1950s home furniture design is rare and reflects an uncommon creative ambition.
