Essay on the Art of War. 2 folio volumes bound in full glossy blond calfskin, spine with raised bands and floral panels, triple fillet framing the covers with the coat of arms of Newstead Abbey at their center, gilt edges, generous margins. Paris: Prault, Jombert, 1754 (FIRST EDITION). Includes 25 fold-out maps as inserts, 2 fleurons on the title pages after Boucher, 6 vignettes, and 5 headpieces by Chedel. The front cover of Volume 1 is detached; that of Volume 2 is partially detached. They would benefit from restoration. The interior of the book is in very fresh condition.
