PAOLO PIVA (Adria, Italy, 1950) Coffee table "Re Quadro". Base in solid travertine. Frame in black lacquered wood. Measurements: 33 x 170 x 110 cm. The coffee table "Re Quadro", designed by the Italian architect and designer Paolo Piva, is an emblematic work of contemporary Italian design, where geometric rigor is combined with a marked sculptural sensibility. Piva, renowned for his refined architectural language, conceived this piece as a play of planes and voids, in which the structure becomes the protagonist. The wide black lacquered frame, with its precise lines and minimalist elegance, generates an almost graphic effect, while the open central space adds depth and visual lightness, giving the table a sophisticated and dynamic presence. The solid travertine base introduces an exceptional material contrast: the solidity and natural texture of the stone dialogue with the glossy finish of the top, balancing modernity and warmth. A piece with a strong architectural character, ideal for contemporary interiors or Italian designer collections, where it stands out both as a functional object and as a domestic sculpture. Paolo Piva trained at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice. Throughout his career, he has gained international recognition for his work for important Italian furniture firms such as B&B Italia, Giovannetti, Dada and Poliform.
