VICTORIAN GOLD AND ENAMEL NECKLACE Origin: Presumably England. Date: ca. 1860–1880. Material: 750/-, 585/- yellow gold, hallmarked, blue enamel. Weight: 28.5 g. Measurement: length 43 cm. Gemstones: 4 diamond roses, Ø ca. 2.0–3.0 mm. Description: Victorian necklace featuring a snake-link chain with three suspended circular locket pendants. The fronts are decorated with finely executed, recessed star motifs against a cobalt-blue enamel background. The larger central pendant features a sculptural bow motif at the suspension point and a locket compartment that opens from the back, originally intended to hold a lock of hair as a sentimental token of love or remembrance. Each of the three lockets is adorned with a freely suspended gold drop. Box clasp with decorative engraving.
