Galeries historiques de Versailles, printed in Paris by Gavard between 1838 and 1841, Versailles and the History of France A beautiful collection of plates taken from the monumental work dedicated to the history of France and the new museum at Versailles commissioned by Louis-Philippe, titled *Galeries historiques de Versailles*, printed in Paris by Gavard between 1838 and 1841. The exceptionally rich collection of engravings depicting views and interiors of the palace, paintings, monuments, monarchs, illustrious figures, and major events in French history is compiled in 10 volumes with elegant blue half-leather binding and marbled paper. The numerous plates, executed under the direction of Calamatta and Mercuri, reproduce the works collected in the *Galeries historiques* and constitute an extraordinary testament to the ambitious project of transforming Versailles into a great national museum of French history.
