The exceptionally rich collection of engravings depicting views and interiors of the palace, paintings, monuments, monarchs, illustrious figures, and major events in French history is compiled in 10 volumes with elegant blue half-leather binding and marbled paper. The numerous plates, executed under the direction of Calamatta and Mercuri, reproduce the works collected in the *Galeries historiques* and constitute an extraordinary testament to the ambitious project of transforming Versailles into a great national museum of French history.
