Allegorical title page depicting arms by Michelangelo Baglioni, portrait of the author, diagrams and musical notation in the text, woodcut friezes, 117 full-page engravings depicting combatants in armor (section H is missing; tears on pages 117 and 231; sporadic stains and discoloration). Contemporary full-parchment binding, handwritten title on the spine (defects and losses). In addition to the magnificent plates engraved by Giovanni Battista Coriolano, the work includes several sheets with musical notation for the drum, representing one of the earliest examples of printed military music.
