TITUS Genève Chronograph. Switzerland, 1950s. Vintage chronograph wristwatch in 18k yellow gold. Round case with a polished bezel, fluted crown, and two chronograph pushers. Case back with 18-karat gold hallmarks. Argenté dial with copper-toned Arabic numerals, central hands, and a 1,000-scale tachymeter ring around the perimeter. Chronograph with a central hand and two sub-dials positioned at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions, corresponding to the 30-minute counter and the small seconds sub-dial, respectively. Plexiglass crystal. Swiss mechanical hand-wound movement with a chronograph mechanism from the Landeron family. Brown leather strap with a metal buckle; both are replacement parts. It works. The chronograph mechanism exhibits operational issues and requires inspection and maintenance. The case shows signs of use, and the dial has a patina and minor surface imperfections consistent with its age. Total gross weight of the watch: 48 g. Measurements: 37 mm (case diameter, excluding crown) Provenance: Estate of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Artistic and heritage collection originating in the legacy of Catalan painters Ramon Martí Alsina (1826–1894), a seminal figure of 19th-century Catalan Realism, and his son Ricard Martí Aguiló (1857–1935). Passed down and enriched across successive generations, the collection brings together works from the original holdings of both artists alongside acquisitions made by their descendants. Dedicated to preserving and recovering the family legacy, the descendants actively reacquired works by the painters as they entered the market, progressively expanding the collection to encompass paintings, sculptures, archaeological artifacts, and other items of artistic and historical significance. This Titus Genève chronograph from the 1950s combines some of the most prized characteristics of vintage Swiss watchmaking: a hand-wound mechanical movement, a bicompax layout, and an 18-karat yellow gold case. Its silver dial, featuring copper-toned Arabic numerals, a tachymeter scale, and two symmetrical sub-dials, presents a balanced composition with a distinct vintage character. Particularly noteworthy is its 37-mm case, generously proportioned for its time, which makes a statement on the wrist without losing the elegance characteristic of classic chronographs. In the watch descriptions, when it states “it works,” it means the watch is functioning. Since collector’s watches typically have delicate and complex mechanisms, the buyer is responsible for any general servicing, inspection, battery replacement, adjustment, or repair that may be necessary. We do not guarantee the perfect functioning of any watch. All photographs of our watches are original and were taken by our photographers; in other words, we do not use stock photography, which is why the photographs are considered part of the catalog listing.
