SUCHARD COCOA CHOCOLATE - c. 1900 Original advertising stereoscope made of lithographed sheet metal. 13.7 x 10.7 cm when laid flat. Comes with seven original views on photographic paper. In very good condition - Lithography with perfect colors and gilding, offering optimal brilliance. The lenses are intact and in perfect working order. Comes with its set of seven photographic views in good condition. Stereoscope: A binocular optical instrument popular during the Belle Époque, the stereoscope allows users to view three-dimensional photographs through two magnifying lenses. By placing the eyes in front of the device, the brain merges two flat views of the same scene to recreate a perfect illusion of depth and three-dimensionality. Founded in Serrières in 1826 by Philippe Suchard, the Suchard company established itself as a global pioneer in the chocolate industry. Having become a major multinational under the leadership of Carl Russ-Suchard, the company revolutionized the market by creating iconic brands such as Milka milk chocolate (1901), Sugus caramels, and the famous Rocher Suchard (1948). Following its merger with Tobler in 1970 (Interfood), production permanently left its historic site in Neuchâtel in 1990 after a series of corporate takeovers. (Canton of Neuchâtel)/Switzerland.
