Antonio Estradera, "Natura Morta" Cubist-abstract work depicting a fruit still life; a work rich in colour, dominated by shades of blue and red, oil on canvas, signed lower right, titled, signed and dated 1962 on the reverse, illegible canvas stamp, minor flaking of paint in the lower left-hand corner, framed, inner dimensions 80 x 99.5 cm. Artist information: Catalan-Spanish painter (1909 in Pomar de Cinca, Huesca - 1985 in Barcelona), self-taught, co-founder of the Lais artists’ group in 1949, member of the Asociación Española de Pintores y Escultores from 1949, winner, amongst other awards, of the Real Círculo de Barcelona Prize in 1954 and the Critics’ Prize at the Villa de Palamós painting competition in 1971, his early work consisted mainly of Impressionist landscapes; from the 1950s onwards, his works became increasingly abstract, influenced by Cubism and Fauvism; his work is characterised by its intense colour palette and interplay of colours.
