Erna Vetter, Floral Still Life A table draped with a cloth, on which stand two flower pots containing a pink-flowering camellia and an amaryllis, against a background in shades of yellow; a vigorous, slightly impasto-like floral painting, oil on panel, circa 1920/30, signed ‘Erna Vetter, Gotha’ in the lower right-hand corner, slight signs of ageing, in a wide black frame, inner dimensions approx. 73 x 52 cm. Artist information: German painter (1887, Wittenberg - 1954, Gotha), studied at the School of Applied Arts in Halle and at the Berlin Art School, undertook a study trip to Sicily, subsequently settled in Gotha, married to the painter Franz Vetter, member of the artists’ group ‘Die Garbe’, member of the Reich Association of Visual Artists, source: Vollmer, Dressler, the Gotha City Newsletter and the internet.
