Alfons Tröndle, Winter in the Foothills snow-covered pastures and farmhouses on the lakeshore against a backdrop of high mountains, beneath a strikingly cloudy sky, impasto painting with a translucent ground, broad brushstrokes, partly executed using a palette knife, oil on hardboard, c. 1960, signed ‘A. Tröndle”, signs of age, framed, inner dimensions approx. 65 x 80 cm. Artist information: Austrian painter (1913, Maxglan near Salzburg - 1974, Munich), pupil of Karl Otto Müller, Max Mayrshofer and Adolf Ziegler in Munich; initially a naturalist, from the 1950s onwards he turned to abstraction and Art Informel, influenced by the artists’ group “SPUR” as well as by Francis Bott, Fritz Winter and Emilio Vedova; in 1961, a founding member of the artists’ association “Die Sieben”; based in Munich.
