Claude Sébastien Hugard, attributed, Trouville-sur-Mer View of the French seaside resort of Trouville-sur-Mer on the English Channel in Normandy; a summer view from the sea of the beach and the promenade with people strolling along it, as well as the townscape featuring the striking Notre-Dame-Des-Victoires church; on which the French artists’ encyclopaedia Bénézit remarks: ‘… Hugard found inspiration for many of his paintings in the Alps and also painted views of Normandy, Brie and the Pyrenees. …”, a slightly impasto-style veduta, oil on canvas, c. 1880, signed ‘C. Hugard’ lower left, relined and restored, in a gilded stucco frame, inner dimensions approx. 37.5 x 61 cm.
