A 124- Manfred Leibl, Portrait of a Girl with a Horse An impressive large-format head portrait of a young blonde woman beside a white horse’s head, in intimate togetherness against a dark background; finely glazed painting, oil on panel, signed and dated ‘M. Leibl 1981", beautifully mounted with a passe-partout in a wide artist’s frame, passe-partout dimensions approx. 101 x 70 cm. Artist’s biography: German painter, watercolourist, draughtsman and restorer (born in 1945 in Asch-Nassengrub [Aš-Mokřiny]), spent his childhood and attended school in Schwarzenbach/Saale from 1951 to 1960, 1960-64: apprenticeship as a painter and varnisher at Bernhard Lottes in Schwarzenbach; 1965-72: worked as a painter and fine artist at Ernst Hägili in Zurich, Switzerland; 1973-90: painter and fine artist at Peininger in Essen; 1991-95: painter and varnisher in Falkenstein/Vogtland; 1996-2007: worked as a freelance painter, fine artist and restorer in Auerbach/Vogtland; self-taught artist; undertook study trips to North and South Africa and the Balkans; based in Auerbach in the Vogtland region, Source: Information provided by the artist, *Auerbacher Stadtanzeiger* 13/2015 and Bernd Appel in the *Freie Presse* of 24 September 2020.
