Sergius Pauser, In the Field A farming couple working in the fields in a mountainous landscape, charcoal and watercolour on paper, mid-20th century, signed ‘Sergius Pauser’ in pencil in the bottom right-hand corner, framed with a passe-partout and behind glass, mat cut-out approx. 20 x 29 cm. Artist information: Austrian painter (1896 Vienna - 1970 Klosterneuburg, Lower Austria), studied architecture, 1919-24 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, returned to Vienna in 1925, member of the Vienna Secession from 1927, undertook numerous study visits from 1930, awarded the Grand Austrian State Prize in 1932; took part in the Venice Biennale in 1934 and 1936; was denied a professorship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna due to his critical stance towards the Nazis; source: Wikipedia.
