Julie Madlener, Three Floral Still Lifes Set of three floral pieces - poppies, sunflowers and gentian, mixed media (gouache and watercolour), c. 1970, each monogrammed ‘JM’; one inscribed on the reverse in ballpoint pen with ‘Julie Madlener Amendingen’; one with an article about her father, Josef Madlener, on the reverse; each mounted behind glass with a passe-partout in a gilded frame; passe-partout dimensions maximum 11 x 15 cm. Artist information: German painter, illustrator and writer (1910, Amendingen - 1999, Memmingen), daughter and pupil of the painter Josef Madlener (1881-1967), pupil at the Höhere Töchterschule, received her artistic training at two private painting schools in Munich, studied at the Munich Academy from 1932 to 1933, later worked from her parents’ home in Amendingen and at her parents’ summer house on the Memmingerberg in Kotzenbrühl, Member of the Alt-Memminger Artists’ Guild and the Munich Artists’ Cooperative; worked in Amendingen until 1997, after which she moved to the Bürgerstift Memmingen; Source: Register of the Munich Academy, article in the *Allgäuer Zeitung* and information from the City Museum in the Hermansbau, Memmingen.
