Robert Kämmerer, "Landscape near Zehlendorf" flat, park-like landscape with scattered groups of trees and yellow-flowering perennials, beneath a lightly clouded sky, gouache on light-weight card, 1917, signed ‘Rob. Kämmerer", minor signs of ageing, framed with a passe-partout and behind glass, passe-partout opening approx. 21 x 17 cm, provenance: Villa Grisebach Auction House 6/2009. Artist information: German painter (1870, Lippstadt - 1950, Berlin?), a pupil at the School of Applied Arts in Kassel, largely self-taught in art, undertook study trips through Germany, France, Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland; worked initially in Wahlershausen near Kassel and, from 1897, in Berlin-Zehlendorf; exhibited at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition from 1916; from 1922, together with his son, the painter Robert Kämmerer-Rohrig (1893-1977), he spent regular summers in Schwalenberg; member of the Reich Association of Visual Artists of Germany; source: Thieme-Becker, Dressler and the internet.
