Franz von Seitz, Silver Wedding Anniversary Commemorative Leaflet A three-column celebratory text marking the silver wedding anniversary, partly highlighted in gold, designed in the style of medieval manuscripts, flanked on either side by a watercolour depicting the young couple in love and the couple on their silver wedding anniversary, surrounded by numerous well-wishers, including King Ludwig II of Bavaria; in the lower section, a decorative band bearing the inscription ‘Seidkbäk composed the song, Seitzfranz painted the picture on 14 December’, in the upper section, a laurel wreath with the dates “1840/1865”; a magnificent sheet, watercolour, ink, pencil on paper, minimal signs of wear, framed under glass, inner dimensions approx. 61 x 79.5 cm. Artist information: German painter, graphic artist and costume designer (1817-1883, Munich), son of Johann Baptist Seitz; studied at the Academy in Munich from 1833; artistic director of the satirical magazine *Leuchtkugel* from 1848; costume designer at the Court Theatre in Munich from 1855, appointed professor in 1858, honorary member of the Academy of Fine Arts from 1876, contributed to the artistic design of Linderhof Palace, source: Thieme-Becker and Wikipedia.
