Georg Muth, A Farmwoman After a Day’s Work in the Fields dated (18)96, signed fec.(it) G. Muth 96., engraved by A-G. Schaeffer & Walcker. Berlin., bronze with a brown patina, depiction of a young farmer’s wife in a dress, with an apron and headscarf, holding her shoes in her hands and carrying a rake over her shoulder, on a small round plinth, mounted on a marble pedestal with bevelled upper edges, the pedestal is chipped, one tooth of the rake is missing, H bronze 47 cm, total height 50 cm. Artist’s details: German sculptor (1859, Leipzig - ?), trained at the Leipzig Academy under Melchior Anton zur Straßen; created several architectural design elements, particularly for churches.
