Silver tankard, Norway Coin dated 1613, unpunched, hallmarked silver, with the royal cipher ‘Christianus Quartus’ in relief on the handle, King Christian IV of Denmark and Norway (1577-1648), a 1 Mark Dansk coin from 1613 inlaid in the lid, surrounded by the inscription ‘Rex:Qvart:Norv:Van:Dan:Got’, cylindrical body, the upper part decorated with engraved ornaments and floral motifs, below which is an openwork frieze featuring cherubs, a domed base flaring out slightly at the bottom, a fully sculpted handle with a coat of arms at the top, to which is hinged a domed lid with all-round ornamental decoration; handles in the form of stylised leaves with curled tips; signs of age and wear; restored; H 19 cm, weight approx. 356 g.
